Home for Heroes

As fellow key workers, we understand the challenges you face. At Friendly Partnerships, we’re transforming key worker housing by building sustainable, high-quality homes at affordable prices. Our mission is simple: to provide you with a place to call home, so you can focus on what you do best—saving lives.

NHS Cry.jpg

We are proud to say we are key workers, the backbone of the NHS. Every day, we walk into our hospitals, clinics and care centres, standing shoulder to shoulder with our colleagues. We clapped in unity, cried in exhaustion and persevered through the greatest pandemic the world has ever seen. Through thick and thin, we answered the call when our communities needed us most, offering care and hope during times of unimaginable uncertainty.

150,000+
short of staff

But unlike many others, our commitment goes beyond just showing up. It’s in the long hours we work, the extended commutes from homes miles away and the sacrifices we make for our families. We are bound by our calling, yet we face challenges that go beyond our shifts in the wards. The NHS is now under its greatest pressure in 75 years. With a staff shortfall of over 154,000 today—and projections that this number will balloon to 570,000 by 2036—the future feels uncertain (NHS Vacancy Statistics, 2023).

2 in 3  staff plan to leave

One of the greatest barriers we face as key workers is not just within the hospital walls but beyond them—finding a place to call home. Affordable housing, close to the places where we serve, has become an elusive dream for many of us. Living far from work means long, expensive commutes that add more hours to already demanding shifts. For many, it’s a key reason for reconsidering their future in the NHS. Over 68% of staff have said that the lack of affordable housing would be a decisive factor in leaving their jobs within the next two years.

But we don’t want to leave.

We are here because we believe in what we do. We love our work and we are passionate about caring for our patients. Yet, we also need to care for ourselves and our families. That’s where our challenge begins. Our mission is clear: we must find solutions to provide key workers like us with quality homes at affordable prices, so we can continue to live near our workplaces. By reducing commute times and housing costs, we can focus more on what we love—helping others—while having more time and resources to enjoy life with our families and friends.

Our Story: Friendly Partnerships

Established during Covid-19 Pandemic

Friendly Partnerships was founded during the unprecedented challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic—a time when key workers stood up against the worst global health crisis in over a century. As the world watched, NHS staff and essential workers put their lives on the line to protect others, offering hope, care, and compassion when it was needed most. Amid the clapping and collective resilience, we saw a growing need: to care for those who tirelessly cared for us.

Our mission is rooted in that profound moment of unity. We are committed to bringing humanity closer together by building homes for key workers—homes that bring them closer to their workplaces, families, and the communities they serve. We believe that those who dedicate their lives to saving others deserve safe, affordable housing that supports their well-being and allows them to thrive both professionally and personally.

At Friendly Partnerships, we’re not just building houses—we’re building a future where key workers can focus on their calling, without worrying about where they’ll lay their heads at night. Together, we honour their sacrifice by ensuring they have a place to call home.
